PD of 1st Sakatam Open international fide rating chess tournament ♟️ 2024


Kumar Gaurav of Bihar clinched the champion title in the tournament by scoring 9 points out of possible 10.
Kaustuv Kundu of West Bengal, Kishan Kumar of Bihar and Tanmay Rajbongshi of Assam scored 8.5 points each and were placed from 2nd to 4th position on basis of tie break score.
Altogether 372 players from across the country among which 65 were female players, 2 Federation (India and Denmark), 2 International Master and One Women Candidate Master participated in this swiss league Ten (10) rounds tournament which was recognised by the World Chess Federation.
The tournament was conducted under the supervision of International Arbiter Anupam Bhattacharjee as the Chief Arbiter and he was assisted by FIDE Arbiter Ravi Kant Tiwari, Monimala Sinha,Oly Rajkumar,Bijoya Neog,Puja Dhar ,Khanindra Barman and others. Mrinmoy Hazarika was the tournament Director of the the tournament.
Krishna Hazarika Roy DGM of Oil India Ltd was the chief guest of the closing ceremony in the presence of Dr. Dillip Kumar Panda, Principal, ROyal Global School, Jitu Talukdar, Add. Director of Assam Petrochemical ltd, Jayanta Sarma, working President of Assam Chamber of Commerce, Ashok Talukdar Co-ordinator of Sports, Royal Global School, Dhiraj Datta, Social Activist, Arup Kumar Nath, President of the Tournament and Other guests.

The tournament was inaugurated by. Dr Sanjive Narain CMD of Parag Netwrork. Also present on the occasion were Mrinmoy Hazarika, Ananta Goswami and Sanjib das President, Secretary and Treasurer of HBM Society and host of players and guests.
This tournament offered a total prize money five lakhs and fifty thousand rupees as cash award which is the highest prize money in any open fide rating chess tournament organised in North east India along in terms of Number of Players.
The tournament was organised by HBM society and Northeast Chess India.
